Oh joy! My colleague Ruth missed her plane so an early departure for the airport for a luxurious dinner at the off airport Ramada. We got within a mile of the airport then got lost for half an hour in the cargo warehouse hinterland and the faint sodium glow of the Shanghai night.
In the end we made it and sat at the bar and ordered a drink which the waiter would not serve until we had filled out the complaints form.
The format was simple pick a service from column A, pick a complaint from column B.we settled for complaining about the temperature in the parking area. That may not help customer service but anything to get a drink.
So at last a nice ha ha stereotype about China. It took a while but we got there and Ruth and I will always think of the Ramada as ‘our place’.
